Abstract

A continuously operating centrifuge for separating solid particles from liquids has conically converging walls and ejection openings for the sediment at the periphery of the cone; there are a number of ejection openings distributed around the circumference; these are opened and closed by means of a regulating device which, when it rotates at the same speed as the centrifuge itself keeps the openings closed but, when it rotates at a slightly different speed opens them. This arrangement enables the solids to be discharged without disturbing the balance between the solid and liquid constituents.
