Abstract

A vertical cylindrical housing has pairs of tubes passing vertically through it. The cylinder is divided into four chambers by horizontal partitions, each open for about a third of its area so that the compartments communicate, but the openings are staggered. Each pair of tubes has an outer tube connected to these partitions, and an inner tube extending from the top and bottom of the outer tube, terminating in a further chamber top and bottom. There are also vertical baffle plates inside the four intermediate chambers, and the refrigerant fluid can circulate between the chambers, condensing on the outer tubes also between the inner and outer tubes and also circulate from top to bottom through the inner tubes.
