Abstract
The raw material enters the pre-drying chamber from a horizontally aligned helically bladed charging scraper through a grate in the roof of the pre-dryer. The discrete streams thus formed fall directly through the furnace which is externally heated in such a way as to produce a temp. gradient within the interior, typically rising to a max of 13 1300 degrees C near the centre and falling to 400 degrees C at the lower exit. Final cooling to aprox. room temp. takes place in a water cooled chamber beneath the furnace before removal on a screw conveyor. Useful for processing high purity Al2O3, MgO, and SiO2 for use in semiconductor mfr quantum electronics and optics technology.
