Abstract

The device is for use between the swing and the stationary portions of a door or window. In the rabbet of the frame is a first joint forming a seal against gases at least at normal temperature, and running for the full length of this joint is a component of material expanding with heat, thus forming a seal becoming effective at or below the temperature at which the joint ceases to be so. The joint can be so arranged as to expand in the limited space between the edge of the door leaf and the frame, and can consist of a flexible profiled section with a sealing lip and a reinforcing portion pressed into a recess running along the frame, typically in the angle of it.
