Abstract

1394107 Extruded sealing strip SEMPERIT AG 18 Oct 1972 [18 Oct 1971] 47966/72 Heading B5A [Also in Division E1] An extruded rubber sealing strip, for a self closing door, comprises a foot portion 2, Fig. 2, for embedding or gluing into a door ledge groove 15, and a projecting sealing lip which is flexible in the directions 17, 19 and of "S", "Z", or "L"- section as shown. The strip is extruded, Fig. 1, with the lip and foot portions joined at weakening grooves 13, to a bridging piece 9, which functions to support and maintain the shape of the lip portion 7 during vulcanization of the strip, after which the bridging piece 9 is removed by tearing. The lip 7 forms an angle α with the adjacent wall of the foot portion 2, of at most 45 degrees and preferably of at most 30 degrees. The strip is curved at sections 20 to reduce folds on deformation. A groove 14 is provided for a bending axis, and the wall thickness of the lip at 19 is preferably less than that at 18 of the foot portion 2.
