Abstract

An inflatable air bed which has its top and bottom ends tailored and joined to the sides to give an equal thickness throughout. The top (1) and bottom (2) are joined together at the top and bottom of the bed to form a lip (3). Each side piece (6), being shorter than top or bottom, allows these to be joined to it to give a continuous lip (7, 8) and still be free to expand to the same thickness. Where the side lips meet that lip formed by top and bottom, a reinforcing strip (27, 28) is inserted. A triangular pocket (25) is formed and allows a self initiated folding action to occur on deflation.
