Abstract

The main fuel supply is drawn from the tank (21) by the pump (18) and delivered through the exhaust heated heat exchanger (2) and the pipe (14) to the inlet manifold. A secondary fuel supply passes through the electro-magnetic valve (44) and the pipe (42) which is provided with an external heating coil (48). The starter knob also actuates the electro-magnetic valve and the heating coil (48) so that on starting pre-heated fuel is supplied to the engine until it warms up sufficiently to pre-heat the main fuel supply. Should the engine fail to start there will be no depression in the inlet manifold so that the pressure switch (100) remains open preventing the opening of the electro-magnetic valve (44).
