Abstract

The plastic window frame (1) contains a groove (2) for control rods to pass through. It is necessary to close this groove by means of a metal cover plate (3). The cover plate is held in place by screws (4) which engage in a metal section (5) in the centre of the window frame. Owing to the unsupported length of screw in the groove (4') there is a tendency for the cover plate to slip. This is overcome by serrating the edges of the cover plate so that when it is tightened against the frame it embeds in the plastic and forms a tight fit.
