Abstract

Gymnastics parallel bars have crossbeams supported by posts at different heights; tension cables of constant length engage the upper regions of the short and long posts at both ends of the bars, and each extends away obliquely from the cross beam and is anchored to the floor. The horizontal spacing between the crossbeams is adjustable in cooperation with the cables, with rotation of the post about its bottom end in a vertical plane, using a guide for the cables mounted at the top of the short and/or long post and displaceable relative to the cable by displacement from outside without changing the cable tension. In each set position, the guide can be anchored relative to the cable. The simplified appts. no longer requires coupling nut and equaliser, and the cable tension need not be adjusted for each new position.
