Abstract

The neck has an annular groove, which receives a projecting ridge of a tear of bottle cap, close to the end which is folded radially inwards to form a flat or slightly dished rim which receives a sealing disc. At least one side of the rim is reinforced by a shoulder which extends chordally of the rim. When the cap has been removed the shoulder allows the sealing disc to be easily gripped, as it leaves the disc projecting slightly over the shoulder. There is thus less danger of contamination by fingers inadvertently pushed into the neck.
