Abstract

The inner and the outer diameters are formed eccentrically so that its thickness is greatest opposite the split and reduces uniformly to its smallest value at the cut. The grooves in the piston are also machined to match and, when more than one ring is used, the eccentricity is spaced equally around the piston.
