Abstract
A motor or compressor has an outer housing consisting of a cylinder (11) closed at each end by blocks (6, 7) recessed in the middle to support a cylindrical rotor (1) with a spindle (5) extending at one end, and carrying set of radial blades (2) which slide sideways in grooves (9) along the rotor, the length of the blades being less than the length of the grooves, and being forced sideways by the shape of the internal faces of the end blocks. This shape is helicoidal, so that the blades reciprocate. Each blade may consist of two portions with a spring between, to ensure sealing. Lubrication oil can be introduced through the grooves.
