Abstract

A resilient material for laying on a floor which is to receive a parquet or a plastic tiled flooring consists of a sheet of a cellulosic felt with long fibres, covered on the lower surface with a thin film of fine sand or talc and on the upper surface with a film of a bituminous adhesive which is covered with a film of siliconed paper, which at the time of laying is torn off to expose the adhesive to which the tiles adhere. This layer prevents the transmission of noise from one floor to the one below the protects the covering from piercing.
