Abstract

The different operations associated with the automatic harvesting and conditioning of tobacco are carried out within one machine. The machine is attached to the tractor hitch (27) by a drawbar (28) on which is fitted a reduction gear (29) driven by the tractor power take-off, delivering power to the machine (72). It consists of a cutter (3) followed by a pick-up leading to the leaf stripper (5), after which the leaver enter two tying machines (6) which bind the leaves into bundles. The latter then pass through a conveyor loader (7) into a trailer for transport to the drying shed. The discarded stems are disposed of by passing them through a pulveriser (8).
