Abstract

An enclosed conveyor for carrying material over long distances in mines and quarries, with horizontal chains (3) carrying scrapers (4) as in the main patent, has at the delivery end, a gap in the lower sheeting forming the under part of the housing, with sloping deflector blades (16a, 17a) through which the material falls vertically (15). Above, is a vertical deflector plate (19) followed by vertical plates (20, 20a) which assist removal of particles from the delivery strand of the chain before passing over the return chain wheels (10) thus preventing undue wear of the chain and chain wheels due to the particles. An additional sloping baffle plate (17) is located between the delivery and return strands of the chains, immediately above one of the lower sloping baffle plates (17a).
