Abstract
Metals and alloys of high m.p. are made into briquettes of relatively low density contg. a refining agent which will evaporate at the m.p. of the alloy and which is added in amts. greater than necessary for the refining process. The briquettes are placed in a channel made of a metal which will aos evaporate at the m.p. of the refractory alloy. The refining agent may be al, Ti or Zr.
