Abstract

Percussive (i.e. type having a mass (3) sliding on stop ended shaft (2)) brake drum extractor attachment enhances universal application and is a claw headed bit (8) linking eccentrically from a drum bolt (6) and a flanged end of the extractor (1): the bit (8) and extractor (2) being maintained axially parallel and co-axial to the wheel hub during extraction. The extractor flange (1) comprises a circular plate welded concentrically to the shaft end and having multiple drillings or slots for bit emplacement, and the bit (8) is an elongated member with a diverging leg, U-cross section ending in a co-axial threaded bolt and returning through at least 90 deg. into a disc plate with U cut out at respective ends: each end aligning axially. For extraction the claw is bolted to the drum and the other end to a selected slot in the extractor flange. The claw can also alternatively be a closed ring.
