Abstract

The voltage supply rail and connector system, for buildings and laboratories etc., has the two 'live' current conductors (3, 4) set well back in slots in the sides of an insulating rail (1) and the 'earth' conductor (2) located at the bottom of a slot (6) running along the top of the insulating rail between the two 'live' conductors. The entrances to the 'live' conductors' slots are closed by flexible flaps (6) preventing accidental contact and metal particles entering. The connector consists of a spring-loaded crocodile clip whose contacts (11, 12) are formed by two metal plates which engage in the rail's side-slots and to the 'live' conductors.
