Abstract

1370842 Distribution rails NOKIA AB OY 1 Feb 1972 [2 Feb 1971] 4745/72 Heading H2E A contact rail unit 1 comprises a channel-like elongate body 2, of insulating material, within the side walls of which are formed grooves 3, accommodating uninsulated conductors 4, which have formed at regular intervals branched loops 5 transversely disposed across the channel of body 2. A current collecting device, Fig. 5, includes an insulating body 9, an intermediate insulating plate 11, pressed outwards from the body 9 by a spring 12, and retained by L-shaped conductors 10, which are positioned, and formed such that when current collecting device is offered to the rear face 2a (not shown) of contact rail 1, contact fingers 10 are inserted through holes 7, the sizes of which differ to ensure correct contact mating, the current collecting device is pushed longitudinally so that the L-shaped ends of contact fingers 10 slide over conductor loops 5 being reliably pressed in contact by the resilient action of spring 12. In further embodiments, the contact rail unit may be fitted with more than two conductors, e.g. four, the contact rail unit may be fitted with a cover 14 (not shown) with earth rail 15 (not shown) the connector 9 being modified to include a further contact finger.
