Abstract

The strip or wire is fed continuously and horizontally through a container holding molten metal. The metal bath at the inlet and outlet is prevented from escaping by an induction action provided by two electromagnetic pumps, which are located one at the inlet and the other at the outlet. Both openings are on the same level and the molten metal is maintained at a certain level above the openings. The coated strip or wire is then passed through a cooling device. The electromagnetic pump located at the outlet of the container is also designed to remove excess molten metal from the strip or wire and is linked to a compressed gas supply.
