Abstract
Oxalates are pptd. at 40-90 degrees C from soln. contg. Ni and Fe as chlorides, nitrates, or sulphates. Oxalate is treated with NaOH soln. at 40-90 degrees C and the resulting pptd. hydroxide is reduced at 400-1000 degrees C in H2. Particle size of the NiFe powder can be controlled by adjusting pH, concn. temp. and reaction time during pptn. of oxalates. The metal alloy powder is homogeneous and yield is almost quantitative. The oxalate can be recovered for re-use.
