Abstract

Paving for heavy duty road surfaces comprises interlocking twelve-sided prisms in compressed concrete. A prism is formed in the shape of three hexagonal prisms each joined on one side to one side of an adjacent hexagon, all joined sides extending from a common central point. The finished block should weigh 5-6 kg. as this is the optimum size to give ease of handling and maximum covering capacity. The shape simplifies the laying process and gives greater flexibility to accommodate changes in direction.
