Abstract

Spanner and hydraulic jack combination presents bolts in structural steel connections etc., by applying preliminary tension. A squat cylinder of greater diameter than workpiece bolt and washer sits over the latter so as to rest on the joint plate, its outer end receiving an inverted U sectioned ring piston which is connected to the threaded projecting bolt via a flanged internally threaded sleeve- this latter screwing onto the bolt. The bolt tension is hydraulically applied and the nut screwed down the extension via cog-wheel and external key.
