Abstract

The limiter is particularly for use with lifting equipment such as cranes, hoists for window-cleaning platforms etc, and incorporates a housing enclosing a member coupled to the lifting cable. This slides in the housing against spring action, and when the load is too great opens the contacts of a switch inside the housing and cuts off the supply to the hoist motor. The spring can be in the form of one or more belleville washers, placed between the head of the sliding member and the bottom part of the housing.
