Abstract

The combustion chamber is tunnel shaped with the discharge opening at the end of the horizontal part and the feed opening at the other end, at the upper end of the sloping part. Air is fed in through a large number of perforated tubes around the combustion chamber, or the walls can be hollow with air fed through perforations through the inner wall. The whole of the combustion chamber and part of the chimney located above the feed opening is immersed in a water bath, the water extending also around the sides of the tunnel.
