Abstract
The water heater has a burner and a flue running upwards from it surrounded by a water jacket. the air supply to the otherwise enclosed burner (14) is taken via a passage with a descending section (7), part of whose wall at least is accessible to heated water. The upper end of the air pipe can be arranged to communicate with the atmosphere, while the lower one leads to the burner chamber, which is otherwise sealed off airtight from the ambient air. there can be a central tube through the water jacket, divided into air pipe and flue, the burner being mounted below the flue.
