Abstract

Prior to extraction of the metal contents by liquation the metal ore concentrate is subjected to an agglomeration process and is charged into the liquation chamber in the state. The material is pref. pelletised, dried, fluid bed roasted for S-removal and then after an opt. activating oxidising roast is introduced into the liquation chamber where a halogen salt and coal is normally added. The method permits extraction by liquation of sulphide Cu-ores and greatly reduces the dust nuisance during processing operations.
