Abstract

Particles of dust suspended in an air or gas stream become ionised by an electrode, usually a charged wire, upstream of a dust collector which comprises a pair of perforated, collector plate electrodes which are spaced apart to sandwich a fibrous, filter mesh made of electrically insulating material. The filter mesh may take the form of band which can be moved on fro a supply roll to a take-up roll. It is much cheaper to renew this type of collector mesh than the electrically-conductive mesh sheets which were previously necessary.
