Abstract
901,439. Electrostatic precipitation. TRION A.G. March 30, 1960 [April 1, 1959], No. 11253/60. Class 39 (1). An electrostatic filter comprises cotton mesh 71 coated with conductive material one or more ionizing wires 50 connected to a high voltage source and one or more grounded electrodes 48, 88 on each side of the wire(s) 48 being shaped so as to form an ionizing chamber around the or each wire and in the form of a grid or perforated sheet to admit air flow so that ionized particles are collected in the cotton mesh. The cotton mesh 71 coated with fire preventative and graphite has mats of fibrous material such as vinyl chloride acrylonitrile or glass fibre or there may be four layers of cotton mesh alternately earthed and at high potential and four of fibrous mats alternating, Figs. 15- 23 (not shown). Grounded electrodes 48 and 88 are Al sheet having square perforations arranged in staggered rows, 48 having semicircular parts driving with 68 the chambers. The tungsten ionizing electrodes have supports 51, 52, clinch barrel 58 being held by a spring 59 secured to an A1 bus-bar 60, 68 is a perforated sheet with staggered square perforations and has a U-shaped contact clip 68a to connect it to perforated sheet electrode 48. In a pin and earthed collar socket the pin is connected to ionizing wires 50 via bus-bar 60 and to cotton mesh 71 and the collar to 48, 68, 88, by spring contacts. In Fig. 15 (not shown) there are corrugated cardboard spacers between the cotton mesh members.
