Abstract

New cpds. are of formula (I) (where R1 and R2 are H, F, Cl, Br, 1-3C alkyl, 1-alkoxy or CF3, provided that when one of R1 and R2 is alkoxy the other is not H or alkoxy, and provided that when one of R1 and R2 is Br or CF3 the other is H, R is 1-7C alkyl, 3-10C alkenyl, or a gp. -(CH2)m-C6H3YY1 (A), -CH(CH3)-C6H3YY1 (B) or in which m is 0,1 or 2, X is a direct bond or mono-, di- or trimethylene, and Y and Y1 are H, F, Cl, Br, 1-3C alkyl 1-2C alkoxy or CF3, the same proviso applying to Y and Y1 as apply to R1 and R2 W is O or S; A is =N- or =N plus-or-minus R3 Z - in which R3 is 1-3C alkyl and Z - is an inorg. anion; M is =N- or =CH-; n is 0,1 or 2; and x y is -CH=CH- or -CR4R5-CR67- in which R4-R7 are H or 1-3C alkyl, >=1 of R4-R7 being H; provided that (a) when x y is -CH=CH- then A is =N-, M is =CH- and n is 0, (b) when M is =CH- A is =N-, and W is O, then x y is -CH=CH-, (c) when A is =N plus-or-minus R3 Z -, then W is O, and (d) when M is =N-, then one of R1 and R2 is H and the other is H, alkyl or alkoxy).
