Abstract
Water vapour from a treatment bath is pref. used in a subsequent rinsing step, esp. the last. Alternatively, water from a treatment stage may be used in a countercurrent treatment of the same workpieces. The water used in a rinsing stage other than the first may be re-used in the previous rinsing stage. Water contg. a low concn. of electrolyte is fed to a stage where the electrolyte concn. is higher so as to contact the workpieces leaving that stage before mixing with the treatment bath. Any overall water loss in the process is made up by adding low concn. electrolyte soln. to the last rinsing stage. Heating or cooling is applied as necessary to produce the required transfer of water vapour.
