Abstract

Workpieces are heated in a bath to a temp corresponding to the temp. of rapid cooling or of the given conversion or are maintained at this temp. The zones to be hardened are brought to the hardening or tempering temp. pref. by induction heating, and the workpieces are left in the bath at least until the temp. has equilibrated, after which cooling is pref. at ambient air temp.
