Abstract

The mixer chamber a horizontal, cylindrical casing through which material to be cooled is conveyed by discs with cutouts fixed on a coaxial, rotating shaft. Refrigerant, usually chilled water, is passed through banks of cooling tubes in series, a bank being provided in each space between adjacent conveying discs and the blank in each space being angularly offset from the bank in the next space. The cooling tubes serve as agitator elements which also extend the cooling facility throughout the full length of the mixer.
