Abstract

In press moulding panels from wood particles impregnated with an isocyanate based binder resin. the panel surfaces are first covered with wood dust which is not resin impregnated. Thus a conveyor for carrying uncured panels through a consolidation/curing press is fitted with sawdust sprays which coat the conveyor with dust before and after it received the particle layer and prior to cut-off and press curing operations. The wood dust is compatible with the panel interface where some is absorbed by the binder, while the surplus dust acts as a release agent which is readily brushed from the press and the panel surfaces after the binder resin has been cured.
