Abstract

Slabs or panels of wood, plywood, metal, metal-faced plywood, fibre board, asbestos board, or like materials are given a non-slip, resistant coating by applying directly thereto tacky particles consisting of granulated, fibrous, organic material coated or impregnated with thermosetting synthetic resin, and hot-pressing to consolidate and cure the coating. The base, e.g. plywood, may be faced with layers of paper or fabric impregnated with synthetic resin which are themselves cured and consolidated at the same time as the granular coating. The granules which may be sawdust, cork, shredded wood, shredded fabric, or flock, may be sprayed on to the base with the aid of compressed air.
