A sandwich structure having a core 1 which includes a mixture of a resin and a particulate filler in the form of sand particles optionally admixed with chalk powder or silica flour, positioned between two outer layers 2 and 3, each of a material different from that of the core, may be made by coating the face of a mould with a polyester resin which is allowed partially to cure, placing in the mould a facing layer of material different from that of the core, e.g. of resinbonded glass fibre, spreading over the facing layer the core material of admixed sand and resin, e.g. a polyester resin, placing a second facing layer, e.g. of glass fibre and polyester resin on to the core material and curing the resultant structure. In an alternative process, the core layer may be moulded prior to the application of the outer layers.
