Abstract

Ferrule consists of a cap moveably inserted over the neck of the medicament container and provided with a hollow arm for dispersing the powder, and the arm has at its free end a diffuser held in place by a cylindrical coupler which engages the arm and, additionally a hollow sleeve in the form of a truncated cone which fits over the coupler. Sleeve has an intact exterior surface from which extend radial ribs defining an interior space corresp. to the coupler but leaving channels between the sleeve and the coupler. Pref. the ribs have sealing lips at both ends and at least the front end of the sleeve is elastically deformable to permit ease of attachment and locking in place. Since air can escape via the channels between sleeve and coupler, ferrule may be safely used to administer powder to body cavities e.g. the ear, closed by membranes which may be damaged by a build up of pressure.
