Abstract

Pref. a continuous textile fabric is dyed by passage through a dye bath and then dried in a closed chamber which is at a reduced press. (e.g 10 mmHg) whereby the solvent in the dye rapidly evaporates off. Immediately after dyeing the dye is fixed pref at 210 degrees C by passaged around a series of heated rolls. Pref. the web is heated as it passes through the closed chamber. Migration of the dye is prevented thereby eliminating streaks.
