Abstract
Process for electric arc spraying comprises striking an arc between two electrode wires to melt them, and directing compressed air into the arc zone to spray the molten electrode onto a substrate. >=1 of the electrode wires is a composite formed of a core of >=1 compressed granular or powdered material e.g. SiC and Al, enclosed in >=1 metal or alloy e.g. Cu, sheath. This method allows metal etc. powders which are difficult to form into wire to be used as electrode wires.
