Abstract
PURPOSE: To eliminate the need for blowing of cork and make the work highly efficient by forming a ceramic layer on the inside surface of dies.
CONSTITUTION: A die 7 for grid casting made of cast iron having the grid bone parts 6 of the same shape as that of, for example, a grid body, on a die inside surface 5 is prepared. The die 7 for grid body casting usually consists of a pair of split dies, a stationary die and a moving die. Next, a ceramic layer is formed on the inside surface 5 of the die 7. The formation of this ceramic layer is performed by a spraying method; for example, powder of ZrCaO3, 2MgO.Al2O3 or the like is melted in plasma, and fine globules are collided onto the inside surface 5 of the die 7, whereby the film is formed. Since the ceramic layer formed in this way has extremely high adhesive strength and does not peel, it is usable semi-permanently, and eliminates the need for blowing of cork. Since the casting work may be started immediately, productivity may be enhanced.
