Abstract

The pigments are incorporated into binders, opt. with solvents and plasticisers, most of particles are 1 mu and of 0.5-15m 2/g BET surface area. Pref. pigments are opt. halogenated (Cl or Br) Cu phthalocyanines perylene tetracarboxylic acids and their bis-imides and anthraquinoid pigments. Binders are polymeric, ratio to pigments is 1:7 to 9:1, incorporation is pref. at 20-200 degrees C. Opt. an anionic surfactant is present. Advantages of making compsns. as above include lack of "finishing" stage for pigment, lack of caking of particles absence of polluted water effluent. Also pigment can be used direct from being formed. The compsns. have powerful colouring props. giving pure, brilliant colours with good colour distribution and division. They are used for colouring plastics, varnishes and fibres and as printing inks.
