Abstract
PURPOSE:To stably disperse leuco dye in colored particles forming a color image without deteriorating the transparency of a pigment by allowing the lecuo dye to be adsorbed on the surface of the pigment and finely dispersing the dye-adsorbed pigment in a resin-contg. medium. CONSTITUTION:A soln. of 5-50wt% leuco dye in a solvent is mixed with 5- 50wt% phthalocyanine blue, dioxazine violet or other pigment to allow the dye to be adsorbed on the pigment. The dye-adsorbed pigment is dried and mixed with water soluble melamine resin, synthetic rubber latex or other resin, a surfactant and a solvent. The mixture is then finely dispersed with a dispersing device such as a ball mill and granulated to obtain a spherical or hollow uniform colorant having 5-80mum diamete and fit for forming a color image. Since the leuco dye in introduced into the pigment in the form of molecules, no coarse particles remain and satisfactory optical filter function is shown.
