Abstract

Compounds of formula (I) are new: (A= 1-18C satd. or ethylenically unsatd. hydrocarbylene, opt. substd. by keto, OH, phenyl, halophenyl or alkoxyphenyl; B= 0-3 alkyl, alkenyl, CF3, cycloalkyl, cycloalkenyl, aryl, aralkyl, aralkenyl, halo, alkoxy, alkylthio, aryloxy, aralkoxy, arylthio or aralkylthio). (I) are hypocholesterolaemics and anorectics. By reacting B-Ph.O.A.CN with an alkali metal azide pref. in presence of a weak acid or an acid-releasing salt. Suitable solvents include hydrocarbons, ethers, O contg. heterocycles and DMF; temp. is pref. solvent reflux. EXAMPLE Product was recovered, washed and dried to give 5- 1-(4-chlorophenoxy)-1-methylethyl tetrazole.
