Abstract

Dried animal foodstuffs are made from vegetable prods. by mincing and rolling the heated prods. in a current of hot air; then passing under press., through extrusion openings and are progressively and uniformly cooled to ambient temp. The agglomerated prods. thus obtd. are of a better quality than those produced by known processes. The drying compartment is equipped with pre-mix burners and an additional air inlet ensures complete combustion without smoke. The vegetable prods. are introduced at the top to a coaxial assembly of horizontal discs superimposed on a common vertical shaft; several rollers are associated with each disc. The lower thurst bearing constitutes an agglomerating and extruding device for the vegetable prods.
