725,266. Drying granular material. STEEN, C. A. Nov. 16, 1953 [Dec. 1, 1952], No. 31760/53. Class 34 (2). Granular material 5 is advanced on a perforated shaking table 2 through which hot air is supplied from below and heat is also supplied to the material in another way to prevent or reduce condensation within the material of. moisture in the air passing therethrough. The extra heating may be supplied by infra-red lamps 11 or tubes 12 supplied with hot water or air and the material may be preheated. The table 2 is secured to side walls 1 hingedly connected to links 6 pivoted on shafts 7 having toothed wheels 8 resting on racks 9. A transverse shaft 14 mounted in bearings 15 on stationary posts 13 carries a plate 16 and has at one end an arm 17 with adjustable weight 18. At the reciprocating motion the material piles itself against the plate and in passing under the plate inversion takes place.
