Abstract

Open bath metal melting furnace contains a melting down compartment for solid additions which is positioned in the centre portion of the rectangular bath and is connected with it at least two of its sides by holes near the bottom on the dividing walls. Heating of the two bath section, which are open to atmosphere, is carried out on either side of the melting compartment. Burners are directed into the bath from the four corners of the furnace and flue gases are removed along the melting down compartment walls. Better melt circulation.
