Cpds. of formula (I): (where X is F, Cl or Br; Z is O or S; R1 is alkyl, cycloalkyl, or opt. substd. aryl or aralkyl; R2 is alkoxy, alkylthio, NH2 or mono- or dialkylamino; R3 is alkyl, alkoxy, alkylthio, phenyl, phenoxy, NH2, or mono- or dialkylamino) are prepd., pref. by reacting a cpd. (II): (where M is H or a monovalent metal) with R2R3P(Z)hal, in the presence of an acid binder when M=H. Cpds. (I) have biocidal activity against a variety of plant and animal pests, and are esp. insecticides, acaricides and nematocides.
