Abstract
Rotary cement kiln has planetary cooling exit tubes with cooling air is injected in counter current. At the bend of the tubes, a supplementary cooling air duct is provided close to the hotter part of the clinker in the tube. This provides rapid cooling of the surfaces of the clinker particles so that they do not stick to the surfaces of the exit tubes. Cheaper material can thus be used for the tubes and wear on the tubes is considerably reduced.
