Abstract

Converter linings, e.g. tar concrete linings of oxygen converters, are hot patched by directing tangentially to the surface of the lining a flame together with a flow of pulverized refractory material e.g. 60-70% powdered magnesite and 30-40% pulverized coke. The refractory material and the flame carry out a rotary motion about a longitudinal axis of the converter. The distance of the base of the flame from the surface of the lining should not be more than 0.3 of the internal dia. of the converter.
