Abstract
A template corresponding to the pattern of perforations, engraving or graining required forms the periphery of a hollow drum, mounted via hollow stub axles in ball bearings in a housing below which is a guide channel of dimensions equal to those of the strip runs so that the strip when pulled through the channel is in continuous rubbing contact with the drum and there is no different velocity between it and the template. A laser beam through the channel in one stub axle is reflected by a mirror on the centre line with the drum so that the energy falls on the strip material through the cut-outs in the template. Method is useful in prodn. of synthetic leathers, printing plates, etc.
